vision/ hearing
The first step in determining the reason for your child's difficulties (and then designing an appropriate intervention programme) is to rule out physical causes; the most obvious being poor vision or poor hearing.
If your child is unable to see or hear properly, he/ she will not be able to perceive or process the information being presented to him/ her at school and this will therefore have a dramatic impact on your child's learning.
Visual difficulties can usually be easily resolved through testing and the implementation of appropriate interventions (eg. glasses).
If you have concerns about your child's vision or hearing, it is vital that a screening or test is done as soon as possible.

A Vision screening is a relatively short assessment that can indicate the presence of a vision problem or a potential vision problem. A vision screening cannot diagnose exactly what is wrong with your eyes; instead, it can indicate that you should make an appointment with a professional Spec-Savers optometrist for a more comprehensive eye test.
